Video Teller Machine
I have so much to talk about since I’ve just returned from CAMEX (a trade show for Bookstores) in Kansas City, but first I want to introduce you all to the Video Teller Machine we are now sporting in the Bookstore. The premise is quite cool: instead of dealing with words on a screen at the ATM, you can now interact with a real teller! Basically, it’s a video chat between the teller and you, for a more comprehensive and interactive banking experience.
Through real-time interaction, you can deposit cash and checks to be added to the prepaid debit MasterCard account associated with the campus ID card, and it is available to all active NC State students, faculty and staff! For those of you who don’t have an account, be sure to check out onecard.ncsu.edu, but this is a fantastic service to people who either don’t have a checking account and would like one, or simply people who want the benefits of making purchases through the MasterCard network without the temptation to create debt.
Essentially, you can pre-load the account with money to use for any expenses where MasterCard is accepted. Sweet deal, huh? The VTM Machine is just another way that Campus Enterprises is trying to make being a part of NC State even better. So for those of you who don’t have a checking account or credit card, or simply want to add another line of ‘credit’ to have at your disposal, definitely check out the VTM machine at the Bookstore at Harrelson, and see how technologically advanced virtual banking has become.
As for further updates, keep it locked! In the meantime, check out Bookstore Confidential: Volume 2 where I sit down with Will Privette to discuss NC State EVERYTHING.
