COVID Catering Guidelines

Catering During Covid

Catering during a pandemic is a first for Rave! Catering and certainly presents its challenges. We worked diligently to re-think our work processes to ensure a safe environment during COVID and continue to maintain the high standards of service known as Rave! Catering.

Government Mandated Guidelines

Rave! Catering realizes the important role we play in ensuring the safety and well-being of the students, faculty, and staff of North Carolina State University. We are committed to strictly uphold the most current COVID-19 guidelines mandated by the University, local, state, and federal government. We regularly train our staff, monitor our processes, and continue to make adjustments that further support the community standards set forth by the University.

Current Maximum Occupancy for NC | Updated February 17, 2021

The state of North Carolina is currently operating under the Phase 3 Executive Order 169 Section 3.8 issued by Governor Roy Cooper on September 30, 2020 Reception Venues may operate at 30% capacity of the stated fire code for that event space. (excerpt below)

  • d. Capacity. Facilities covered by this Subsection must limit Guests in the facility (whether indoor or outdoor) to the lesser of:
    • 100 people per cinema screen or room; or
    • Thirty percent (30%) of stated fire capacity in each cinema screen or room (or, for areas without a stated fire capacity, no more than seven (7) Guests for every one thousand (1000) square feet of the Guest area’s square footage).
      • Workers and support staff do not count toward these capacity limits.
      • For hotels or other facilities where private meeting spaces are a portion of a larger facility that is not restricted by this Section of this Executive Order, the limits stated above are measured only for the portion of the facility that is a private meeting space.

Food Service Options During COVID

Delivery

Rave! Catering can deliver your breakfast, lunch, or dinner food or beverage in tamper-proof, disposable, individual packages for an unlimited number of guests*. Guests must still comply with the current COVID guidelines by limiting the guest count to the maximum requirement or *take their food elsewhere

Drop and Set

Rave! Catering will setup your breakfast, lunch, or dinner self-serve event for an unlimited number of guests and return later in the day to cleanup and collect our equipment. Sneeze guards, a box of disposable service gloves, and hand sanitizer is part of the standard drop/set service so that your guests can glove up and worry-free serve themselves their catered meal. Guests must still comply with the current COVID guidelines by limiting the guest count to the maximum requirement or take their food elsewhere

Buffet Service

Rave! Catering can setup served breakfast, lunch, or dinner buffets with multiple food and beverage stations for an unlimited number of guests. Sneeze Guards, hand sanitation stations, gloved and masked service staff, and 6’ distancing are in strict accordance. Guests must still comply with the current COVID guidelines by limiting the guest count to the maximum requirement or take their food elsewhere

Receptions

Receptions are a bit tricky but still doable during COVID. Any passed hors d’oeuvres will be in attractive, individual plastic packaging. Hors d’oeuvre buffets will served by gloved and masked service staff. Beverages will be packaged individually or served by gloved and masked service staff behind a protective barrier.

Plated Meals

To minimize the frequency a service staff comes in contact with a guest, plated meals will be a combination of ‘covered’ individual preset items such as; salads, dessert, bread and butter, and beverages, followed by a gloved and masked staff member serving the entrée. Bussing will take place after the event is over and guests have left the event space. Guests must still comply with the current COVID guidelines by limiting the guest count to the maximum requirement and maintaining 6’ distancing while seated at their table.

Event Hosts Partnership

In order to comply with the COVID-19 guidelines and ensure the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff, Rave! Catering will rely on a strong partnership with our on-site event hosts. The on-site Event Hosts will take on the responsibility of ensuring:

  • All event guests maintain 6’ distancing throughout the event
  • The event guest count never exceeds the maximum limit
  • All event guests wear masks unless ‘actively’ eating or drinking
  • All event guests use hand sanitation stations and follow food and beverage dispensing instructions where applicable
