Port City Java at College of Veterinary Medicine to Open May 12

|

May 5, 2011 (Raleigh, NC)— NC State Dining will be opening its sixth Port City Java location on May 12, 2011 at the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) on NC State’s Centennial Biomedical Campus. The new facility will be located at 1052 William Moore Drive in the Randall B. Terry Jr. Companion Animal Hospital.

“Currently, the Centennial Biomedical Campus has only one foodservice operation—The Vet School Cafe,” said Kitty Lewis, retail operations manager for NC State Dining. “NC State Dining is excited to be able to offer another option with a variety of beverage and food options within walking distance for students, faculty, staff and visitors.”

The Port City Java – CVM Terry Center will be joining NC State’s five other campus locations: Carmichael Gym, Nelson Hall and Park Shops on the main campus, and Textiles and Engineering II on Centennial Campus.

Port City Java, a Wilmington-based company, features fresh-roasted coffees from all over the world, including their signature line of Fairganic® coffees, which are both Fair Trade certified and USDA certified organic. They also feature hot and iced espresso-based beverages, shakes, freezes, real-fruit smoothies and fresh pastries, as well as an all-day breakfast menu featuring breakfast wraps and sandwiches. Port City Java also offers lunch items including their signature sandwiches, wraps, and salads. Port City Java’s™  “Food for Thought” menu, which was originally designed especially for NC State students, faculty and staff, features a rotating line-up of food offerings to provide a wider selection over a month’s time and break the monotony.

The Port City Java – CVM Terry Center will be open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

Students will be able to use their meal-plan equivalency and Board Bucks, along with AllCampus, as well as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and cash.

Are there plans to open at the VHC on the weekends at any time?

Especially in the mornings, there are plenty of staff, residents, interns, seniors and clients. Even to open from 7a-1p may prove beneficial. I know myself and several coworkers (that work primarily on the weekends) would love to be able to swing by PCJ on campus instead of driving to Dunkin Donuts/Starbucks/Cup A Joe on the way to work.

Right now we have no plans to open the PCJ at the College of Veterinary Medicine on the weekends. It is something we can consider! We’ll pass along the request.
