NC State Dining awarded silver medal in the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards

May 23, 2011 (Raleigh, NC) — NC State Dining at NC State University was awarded the silver medal in the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards by the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) for the training table program, “Eat for Peak Performance,” at Case Dining Hall.  NACUFS awards food service organizations for excellence in dining concepts, special events, retail concepts and catering services.

The “Eat for Peak Performance” training table program was created through a partnership with NC State Dining and the NC State Department of Athletics.  Case Dining Hall manager and training table director Bob Sorochak, alongside two registered dieticians, Lisa Eberhart and Michelle Rockwell, designed the elements of the program, including recipes and weekly menus.

The program aims to refuel student athletes with healthy menu options based on three categories: lean protein sources, complex carbohydrates and fruits and vegetables that are naturally high in antioxidants.

“NC State Dining is proud to have received national recognition for this program,” said Sorochak.  “We look forward to the continued partnership with Athletics and the future success of ‘Eat for Peak Performance’ at NC State.”
