June 30, 2011 (Raleigh, NC)—This past March, NC State Bookstores, a division of Campus Enterprises, created a t-shirt to aid in relief efforts for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. NC State Bookstores sold 843 t-shirts and donated $4,215 to Triangle Community Foundation Project Kokoro to fund relief efforts.
NC State Bookstores along with Student Government and the Center for Student Leadership Ethics and Public Service (CSLEPS) joined together to generate proceeds for the victims through the sale of t-shirts. The campus-wide effort was called “Origami Wishes.”
The t-shirt design incorporated the “Origami Wishes” logo, the date of the tragic event, an outline of Japan, and the NCSU logo. T-shirts sold for $10.00 each; $5.00 from each shirt was be donated to relief efforts.
Project Kokoro is a collaboration of the North Carolina Japan Center, Southern Bridge International, the Triangle Business Community, CSLEPS, Triangle Community Foundation, and selected public and private schools.
