July 29, 2011 (Raleigh, N.C.) — To connect a new water main line, contractors will need to close and dig under the sidewalk on the south side of Cates across from Alexander on Friday, July 29. Contractors are starting at 5:00 a.m. in an effort to have the sidewalk open by 8:00 a.m.
If there is any delay, access to Price will be available ONLY from the east. Pedestrians can walk from Morrill Dr. near Carmichael and cross Cates through the opening in the construction fence.
Access to Carmichael will be maintained from the east. From the west along Cates, pedestrians will have access to the stairs (near Carmichael and First Year Commons) to proceed down to the lower level between Cates and Carmichael.
All other pedestrian routes are still available to the north side of Alexander, Price, Talley, and Reynolds.
