October 30, 2011 (Raleigh, N.C.) — Students from the NC State University Student Centers Board of Directors and staff involved in the Talley project will present the latest update on the Talley Student Center Renovation and Addition on Wednesday, Nov. 9, through a day-long drop-in “Table Talk” event in the main lobby of Talley and Town Hall meetings at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.  in Talley Student Center Room 1202.

“We have a lot to share at this semester’s event,” said TJ Willis, assistant director and Student Affairs Talley construction liaison. “From a construction standpoint, we should start coming out of the ground with steel and concrete in late spring, and from a design standpoint, we are excited to give the students a glimpse of what the interior will look like.  We will unveil our new ‘fly-through’ video as well as interior finishes and color swatches chosen for the building. I think students are going to be excited about what they will hear and see.”

NC State Dining will also share more about what students can expect from a dining perspective. “Last year, we talked to students about what kind of food they wanted in the new building, and now we are putting the final touches on the space,” said Jennifer Gilmore, director of marketing and communications for Campus Enterprises. “We look forward to sharing our plan for providing exciting dining opportunities that have been developed especially for our campus.”

The campus community can stop by the lobby anytime between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. to talk with students and staff involved in the project. Cookies will be provided. Town Hall meetings will be held at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and will include the following topics/speakers:

1. Design Status Update – Bill Davis (Capital Project Management)
2. Construction Status Update & Spring Preview – Ron Cohn (Rodgers Builders)
3. Satellite Student Center Update – TJ Willis (Student Affairs)
4. Talley Backfill due to December Moves – Tim Hogan (Campus Enterprise)
5. New Talley Dining – Randy Lait and Shawn Hoch (NC State Dining)
6. Communication Avenues – TJ Willis (Student Affairs) and Jennifer Gilmore (Campus Enterprises)

“We will provide time after the program for questions, and of course we will be logging questions and feedback all day,” said Willis.  Anyone who cannot come by is welcome to join the conversation at #newtalley on Twitter or watch our town hall meeting on our website: go.ncsu.edu/newtalley. ”
