Event to showcase the Espresso Book Machine
November 3, 2011 (Raleigh, NC) — Wolf Xpress, NC State’s full service print and copy center, will host an open house on November 10 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to showcase the Espresso Book Machine. The EBM is a state-of-the-art book-making machine that automatically prints, binds and trims library-quality paperback books on demand. In short, it’s akin to a vending machine for books.
Located in the Atrium Food Court on the ground floor of the Erdahl-Cloyd Wing of the D.H. Hill Library, Wolf Xpress is one of the select facilities worldwide that features an EBM. Guests attending the Open House will have the opportunity to watch a demonstration of the EBM and view print samples. The EBM can produce a 300-page book in about four minutes for just a few cents per page.
Self-publishing opportunities abound for faculty, graduate students and writers including course packs, customized textbooks, thesis, dissertations, genealogies, family cookbooks, short stories or full-length novels. The EBM also allows users to print public-domain books from sources like Google Books.
Attendees are welcome to drop-in throughout the day on November 10, but are encouraged to RSVP by November 9. To RSVP, visit: http://go.ncsu.edu/ebm-rsvp.
