Talley Construction Update: April 5, 2012

Construction activity continues to increase. This includes activity at the Cates Avenue construction entrance. Please use caution when walking around the site and past construction entrances.

Schedule: Past 7 Days

Existing Talley

1. Completed the 2nd floor precast demolition

2. Completed the 2nd floor temporary corridor walls and ceiling

3. Continued the 3rd floor and 4th floor separation walls

4. Completed column shoring at northeast corner

–  Blog post on the process: Digging a Little Deeper – Column Shoring and Extension

5. Poured temporary stair footings

North of Talley – West Side (Future site of Dock, Dining, Senate Chambers & Arts NC State)

1. Abated and removed  steam piping

2. Continued grading and excavation

3. Continued temporary storm piping

North of Talley – East Side (Future site of Dining, Ballroom and Meeting Rooms)

1. staging for demolition

Other Areas

1. Completed the steam tie in at Cates Ave.

Construction Noise will continue to be RED

Existing Talley

1. Remove scaffolding on the north side

2. Complete the 2nd floor corridor electrical work

3. Complete the 3rd and 4th floor separation walls

4. Start the North Stairwell Separation wall

North of Talley – West Side (Future site of Dock, Dining, Senate Chambers & Arts NC State)

1. Complete the precast demolition

2. Start the shoring and excavation west Talley elevation

North of Talley – East Side (Future site of Dining, Ballroom and Meeting Rooms)

1. Start the temporary stair erection on the northeast corner of Talley

2. Start the shoring and excavation at east Talley elevation

3. Staging for demolition

Other areas

1. Continue backfill at the Talley carriageway on Cates Ave

 

Upcoming Work – More info to come:

– Continue the Column shoring and extension work at the northeast corner of Talley

– Auger cast piles will start later this month
