October 11, 2012 (Raleigh, NC) – Get ready to put some south in your mouth. NC State Dining and the NC State Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences has partnered to create a new, exciting flavor to add to the lineup of Howling Cow ice cream, just in time for University Open House on Saturday.
The new flavor–Banana Pudding–will be available by the scoop Friday, October 12 at the Creamery in D.H. Hill Library and the Emporium Ice Cream Shop in Talley Student Center. The Creamery will also feature a milkshake, ice cream sandwich and sundae version of the new flavor.
Banana Pudding is the first flavor introduced to the Howling Cowlineup since October 2011, when Robert’s Raspberry (a Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip 50th-Anniversary Flavor) was released. To date, Howling Cow(TM) has 25 flavors in rotation, all designed and created in-house at the Dairy Research and Teaching Farm on Lake Wheeler Road. From this facility comes fresh milk from 170 milking cattle, which serves as the foundation of Howling Cow products.
“The idea to create a banana pudding flavored ice cream came to light while our production manager was enjoying a big bowl of his grandma’s pudding. This flavor became a reality shortly after a successful banana soft-serve flavor was released at Fountain Dining Hall, and we couldn’t be more excited to make this available in our Howling Cow locations,” stated Carl Hollifield, business manager for NC State’s Department of Food Science.
Best yet, there’s no need to wait until the State Fair comes to town or until you’re passing by the Emporium C-Store or the Creamery at D.H. Hill Library to enjoy your favorite brand of ice cream; Howling Cow products are now available to take home by the pint. Visit the C-Stores at Honors Village, Wolf Village, Bragaw, and the Emporium Talley location, or the Creamery storefront by the Atrium, and bring the cow home with you.
