The Witherspoon Improvement Project continues and the west side of the building has already undergone visible transformation. Removal of the brick stage, outdoor seating, and bike racks make way for the upgrades that will take place over the next few months. Event reservations within the building remain unaffected by the construction, and Harris field reservations are being considered on an individual basis.
This week, the project will move forward with the demolition of the outdoor stairs. NC State University Student Centers worked with the contractors to schedule this demolition on days that would have little impact on the use of the student center, working around orientation, move-in weekend, and scheduled events. In an effort to ensure the safety of our guests, Witherspoon will be closed to the public on Thursday, August 8th, and Friday, August 9th. Beginning Wednesday, August 7th, Pedestrian walkways will be rerouted along Cates Avenue from Dan Allen Drive to Witherspoon. All pedestrians are asked to use the crosswalks and travel on the sidewalk in front of the Student Health Center.
