NC State Wellness VillageAugust 15, 2013 (Raleigh, N.C.) NC State Dining is making personal wellness a priority in new ways on campus this fall. A partnership between NC State Dining and Wood Wellness Village kicked off Wednesday with student move-in and a welcome cookout. The Wellness Living and Learning Community, located in Wood Residence Hall, is an initiative designed to promote the seven dimensions of wellness among its residents. Through experiential programming, community engagement, and interaction between dining staff and students, NC State Dining will collaborate with the Village and Campus Recreation to encourage each student’s personal health and growth.Bob Sorochak, manager at Case Dining Hall, and Scott Curtner, manager at Clark Dining Hall, hosted a cookout to connect with Wellness Village students and families and communicate the accessibility of NC State Dining staff. Allison Hofmann, NC State Dining Wellness Village Liaison, and staff from the dining halls provided move-in assistance in addition to the food and initiated relationships with the students in the Village that will continue throughout the year.

In the months to come, NC State Dining will promote healthy eating in the dining halls and C-Stores, sustainable food practices, and social responsibility with food that will extend beyond the walls of Wood and out to the NC State community and beyond.
