March 18, 2013 (Raleigh, N.C.) – Yates Mill Bakery, NC State’s gourmet bakery, was recently awarded “Best Dessert” at A Toast to the Triangle™. The benefit was held March 9 and is Tammy Lynn Center’s premier fundraising event that provides over 1,300 guests with an evening of food, drink and friendly competition.
As one of eight local restaurants, caterers, beverage purveyors and bakeries that received an award at this event, Yate Mill Bakery won “Best Dessert” based on an evaluation of such criteria as plate presentation, aroma and flavor. The bakery entered their Lemon Mousse Cake with Lemon and their Mascarpone and Parisian Macaroon into the competition.
“It’s not everyday that you can help support a remarkable organization like the Tammy Lynn Center by making pastries, nevertheless that is what we were able to do by participating in A Toast to the Triangle,” said Kelly Bellmore, Executive Pastry Chef for Yates Mill Bakery. “We enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to being a part of the event next year.”
Founded in 1969, Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities empowers families and enriches the lives of children and adults through education, community and support services. They aim to provide hope and opportunities for individuals to learn, live and grow to their fullest potential.
