Talley Student Union will close in December 2023 following graduation activities and will remain closed through the end of winter break. This early closure will accommodate the Power Forward Project that will take place at Talley Student Union, Price Music Hall and Alexander Residence Hall. The building will close Saturday, December 16 at 6 p.m. and will reopen on January 2, 2024, with hours of operation between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The closure is in preparation for a four-day power outage from December 18 – 21 during which the building will not be suitable for occupants due to safety concerns. The university will close the following day – December 22 – for Winter Break.
If the Power Forward team deems it necessary to reschedule due to weather or other reasons, the dates will be moved to the first week in January. During that time, Talley would likely remain open with a few disruptions and intermittent closures/outages or altered building hours.
Working around the Power Forward activities at Talley, the Student Centers team will be completing terrazzo work on the 2nd floor, including the lobby and elevators, taking advantage of the reduced campus traffic and maximizing the closure time. This floor project will occur on the following dates: December 16 – 17, 21 – 22, 30 – 31 and January 2 – 3.
