September 2024

Chelsa Faison

Temporary Employee, Talley Market

Chelsa Faison

Chelsa’s Nomination:

“Talley Market was understaffed for two weeks with no SHRA day supervisor and limited amount of students . Chelsa kept the Market day operations running as normal. Helping the guests, placing and receiving orders and doing what was needed to keep the operations running smoothly. She worked many hours and still always had a smile on her face.

Chelsa – I appreciate all you accomplished those two weeks. You have develop into a well rounded supervisor. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.”

Tyler Gambill

Student Employee, Student Centers

Tyler Gambill

Tyler’s Nomination:

“Tyler has recently taken on the huge responsibility of training and scheduling our setup assistants, a commitment that requires a significant amount of time, exemplary leadership, and a comprehensive understanding of our operations at NC State Student Centers. He’s doing this while enrolled as a full-time student and finishing his undergraduate degree, and while also holding down another part-time job off campus. Since he has taken on this new role, our setup team has stepped up to the challenges of a busy ballroom schedule with great attitudes and initiative. It’s also taken a lot of stress away from other colleagues who can now focus on the development of the rest of our student operations team. Tyler has set a fantastic example for them, and for the rest of our student centers employment team. We are incredibly lucky to have him!”

Dawn Christmas and LaShawn McLamb

Permanent Employees

Dawn and LaShawn’s Nomination:

“Dawn works at Fountain and LaShawn works at Case. I wanted to recognize them for the work they’ve done to help keep students with food allergies safe. I received the following email from a student with Celiac disease, who has been eating on campus since the beginning of last year. Last year, he primarily ate at Fountain, and this year he has primarily been eating at Case. Both Dawn and LaShawn have taken care of the student to ensure he can find safe options.

The email I received from the student stated: “Good afternoon, I had an excellent meal service at Case dining hall around lunchtime today. The gluten free options are already the best on campus, but Ms. Shawn made my experience much better. She always finds time in her busy schedule to help me, just like Ms. Dawn did at Fountain dining hall. These two wonderful ladies have made my stay at NC State much better. Enjoy the rest of your day.”

I am grateful for everything they do to keep students safe!”
