Action Needed: Submit Your Fall Course Material Requests

Faculty course material requests for the fall semester are now overdue, and Wolfpack Outfitters is asking instructors who have not yet submitted their requests to do so as soon as possible.

With the first day of classes approaching, only 65% of fall course material requests have been received. Delayed submissions can affect students’ ability to access required course materials on time, particularly for those participating in Course Ready, NC State’s digital-first course materials program that provides undergraduate students with all required course materials at a flat semester rate.

As of today, 35 percent of fall course material requests remain outstanding, creating potential delays in providing students with timely access to required course materials. 

Timely faculty submissions are also essential for the university’s compliance with the Higher Education Act, which requires institutions receiving federal funding to disclose required course materials by established deadlines. The deadline for fall course material requests was May 1.

Faculty are responsible for submitting requests for all required and optional course materials, including textbooks, e-books, coursepacks, Open Educational Resources (OER) and courseware such as WebAssign, Packback and ZyBooks. 

If no course materials are required, faculty should select “No Text Required.” Once selections are complete, remember to click “Review and Submit.”

Participation in the Course Ready process is required for faculty. While students may opt out of the program, faculty must submit accurate course material information by the deadline to ensure compliance and provide equitable access to learning materials.

Course Ready delivers materials digitally whenever possible. Printed textbooks are provided only when a digital version is unavailable or when a physical text is required for the course. Faculty should clearly indicate when a print textbook is necessary.

Prompt submission will help ensure students have access to the materials they need by the first day of class while supporting affordability, compliance and student success.

Department Adoption Update

As of July 14, 2026, departments have submitted textbook adoptions for 64.9% of all course sections with 2,234 of 3,444 sections completed.

A total of 25 departments have reached 100% adoption, including AVS, EI, EMA, FDS, FSA, GES, GTI, HESA, HESO, HESS, HEST, II, IMS, INB, JEM, MES, MIS, PHY, PSC, SAO, THE, WLCL, WLEN, WLGR, WLKO, WLIT, WLPO and WLRU. Several additional departments are above 90% completion. 

Among the larger academic departments, Accounting (82.8%), AEC (88.0%), Business (72.9%), Chemistry (89.2%), Communication (84.9%), Psychology (77.3%) and Statistics (83.5%) are all performing above the institutional average.

However, a number of departments remain below 50% completion and several including BBS, CSSC, GGS, IEP, IPGE, PRK, SO, WLHU and WRT, have not yet submitted any adoptions. Departments with outstanding submissions are encouraged to complete their adoptions today to ensure students have timely access to required course materials.
