Talley Renovation Traffic/Parking Impacts – May 31 Start Date

|

Contractors for the Talley Student Center Renovation and Addition project advise the project staging will begin on May 31 with fencing of the affected areas and closure of a portion of Cates Avenue.  The project is extensive and impacts a large area.  Please view the attached preliminary staging plan.

Beginning May 31, 2011, Cates Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Dan Allen Drive and Morrill Drive. East Cates Avenue from Morrill Drive eastbound to Pullen Road will often be reduced to one-lane traffic with parking impacts.  No “C” parking on Cates Avenue except the “C” parallel spaces on East Cates Avenue (near Reynolds Coliseum).

Pedestrian access to Talley Student Center will be maintained; fences, way finding signs will be in place to direct pedestrians.

Remember that beginning, Friday, May 13 through Tuesday, August 16, any 2010/2011 academic year permit is valid in CC, CD, DD, P, RE, RW, RS, V and W permit areas i.e., all parking areas EXCEPT employee areas (B, C and A) and reserved spaces.  Employee areas always require an area specific permit; B for B areas, C for C areas and A for gated A areas.  Parking meters, pay lots, reserved spaces and no parking areas are always enforced.

This is a huge task, but the University has assembled a talented and capable team committed to accomplish this incredible renovation with as little pain to the campus community as possible.  Your cooperation and patience is much appreciated.  We will do our very best to keep you informed of upcoming impacts as the project progresses.
