Recently we posted about the upcoming Cates Avenue Duct Bank Work to begin in July with maps to come! These maps are out and here is the latest update from Transportation.
West Cates Avenue (between First Year College and Student Health)
This portion of the work will begin Thursday, July 5 and is expected to be completed by August 9 (hopefully sooner). During daytime hours traffic will be reduced to one lane with traffic assistance (traffic through parking spaces). At night, the road will open up to two-way traffic. Some weekend road closures of this portion of Cates Avenue may be necessary. The below map shows the details of the West Cates work with the top being the day pattern and bottom the night pattern.
East Cates Avenue (between Reynolds Coliseum and Jeter Drive)
This portion of the work will begin Monday, July 9 and is expected to be completed by Saturday, July 14 (weather permitting). During daytime hours traffic will be reduced to one lane with traffic assistance (traffic lane through parking spaces). No street parking in the area. At night, the road will open up to two-way traffic. The below map shows the details of the East Cates work with the top being the day pattern and bottom the night pattern.
Please pay close attention to “No Parking” signs and do not remove cones or barrels. Avoid Cates Avenue during this time if at all possible (use Pullen Road or Gorman Street for north/south travel). Pedestrian travel is not affected.
Remember, during Modified Enforcement when classes are not in session, but employees report to work, we operate under a Modified Enforcement policy which means that any valid NCSU parking permit is valid in all parking areas EXCEPT employee areas (B, C and A) and reserved spaces. Employee areas always require an area specific permit; B for B areas, C for C areas and A for gated A areas.
Thanks for your cooperation and patience!
