If you have been following along with our weekly updates, we have been talking about a start date for steel erection. That day is around the corner and after our preconstruction meeting this morning, things look to be a go for Monday, September 17th. So we wanted to take a moment and give an update about what to expect over the coming months.
As seen in the drawing below, steel will begin on the west side of the site and closest to the existing Talley (green). This is also the tallest portion on this side. Crews will then work their way over to western most portion of New Talley (the Pavilions), which is closest to Alexander (yellow). They will then work on the eastern portion of the pavilions, which is the location of the steel signed during Wolfpack Welcome Week (pink). Crews will then move over to the eastern section of the building. Once on the eastern portion, the steel will go up from south to north (blue), (orange) & (purple).
The milestone dates for steel allow us to begin pouring floor slabs (3-5 on the west portion) starting October 8th and floor slabs (2-5 on the east portion) starting October 29th. This is all tentatively scheduled, so stay tuned to the weekly updates for more information.
The noise level will move to RED for all starting Monday September 17th. Crews will be working from 6:30am to sundown and working 7 days a week.
Additionally, the following can be expected:
- Steel deliveries will be made to the project site via the Dunn Avenue construction entrance.
- To the extent possible, steel deliveries to the project site will be made early in the day or late in the day as to avoid congestion on campus.
- At times when the Addition is being tied into the existing building there might be some vibration.
