August 23, 2011 (Raleigh, NC) — NC State Dining is now using MyFitnessPal.com as a tool to help students, faculty and staff track food intake and activity. MyFitnessPal.com is a free service that allows visitors to keep a food dairy and an activity log online or on their smart phone.
All menu items from dining hall locations have been added to the site’s database. To record a menu item in the food log at MyFitnessPal from the dining hall, login online or with your smart phone and begin a search with the phrase “NC State NC State Dining” before the menu item. For example, to find white corn in the database search “NC State NC State Dining white corn.”
Incorporating dining hall menu items into the MyFitnessPal.com database gives students, faculty and staff another method to help maintain a healthy weight or achieve healthy, sustainable weight loss. NC State Dining has also integrated Weight Watchers® PointsPlus® values into online menus for dining halls, restaurants and cafes on campus.
“MyFitnessPal is a great program to help the NC State community track their food intake and activity on a daily basis,” said Lisa Eberhart, registered dietician for NC State Dining. “By keeping track of the nutritional information for snacks and meals consumed throughout the day, you become more knowledgeable about how certain foods can affect your weight-loss goals.”
Students seeking guidance in reaching nutritional goals, can call the Student Health appointment desk at 515-7107 or use the online scheduler to arrange a meeting with Lisa Eberhart.
