July 18, 2013 (Raleigh, N.C.) – Rave! Catering, NC State’s own catering department, won the gold award in the category of Online Catering Menu – Large Universities at the 2013 conference of the National Association of College and University Food Service. NC State’s Randy Lait and Jennifer Gilmore were present at the Minneapolis conference to receive the award.
The menu was judged on creativity in design and style; photography; variety; methods of used in food preparation; color, texture, flavor and temperatures; considerations for food allergies and dietary preferences; table, buffet settings and service themes along with the “wow” factor in the menu or web design.

Catering does an outstanding job of serving the NC State campus with outstanding food and service,” said Gilmore, director of marketing for Campus Enterprises, the umbrella organization for Rave! Catering. “It is gratifying to have our work recognized by our peers in the college food service industry, and we are eager to build on our success to make the program even better.”
