Healthy Campus Week at NC State

|

Healthy Campus Week (Sept 21-25) was a big success for students, faculty and staff here at NC State. As one of the leaders in healthy campus initiatives, NC State hosted events throughout the week.

The events included various social media sweepstakes that encourage students, faculty and staff to post to social media about their healthy choices. Information was also given to students at various dining locations to promote the Wolf Approved healthy eating program here at NC State.

We are also proud to announce that our very own Mr. Wuf was chosen as the 2015 winner for Healthy Mascot of the Year for his video promoting healthy activities. That video, part of the Healthy Mascot Challenge for Healthy Campus Week, can be seen here.

The Healthier Campus Initiative started in 2014 as part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Partnership for a Healthier America. In a joint endeavor, NC State Dining, University Recreation and University Transportation have partnered to promote various events throughout the year, culminating in the sponsored events during Healthy Campus Week.

NC State Dining’s Director of Nutrition and Wellness and Registered Dietitian, Lisa Eberhart, emphasizes that these events are focused on raising awareness that can continue throughout the year. “We want Healthy Campus Week to become Healthy Campus ‘Year’ for our students, faculty and staff. This week is about promoting healthy habits that will hopefully carry on long term. This initiative is a great starting point.”
