NC State Student Centers Update on COVID-19 Impacts to Service

|

We know that as you consider your plans for next week and the remainder of the semester, you may have questions about the Student Centers’ operating plans. Enclosed here are some initial operating plans for the Student Centers themselves and for service providers within.

While the situation is changing daily, our current plan is as follows:

Ensure Student Centers are open to support student success. Access and service continuity is being maintained in the Student Centers through work with departments and our service provider partners. We will extend our Spring Break hours through March 21. Beginning March 22 and until further notice, Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information and our spring break hours go to studentcenters.ncsu.edu

RAVE! Events is working with the university to manage events in compliance with UNC System Office guidance. As we manage the implementation of this new guidance and work to provide quality service to our existing clients with reservations, Rave! Events is temporarily not accepting new event space requests until Wednesday, April 1st. Please note, this is for new events and does not apply to new catering orders. If you would like to request catering, please complete our Catering Request Form

If you currently have an event scheduled with us in the next two weeks, you should receive communication from our office regarding that event. If you would like to cancel an event that you currently have scheduled with us, contact our office as soon as possible by phone (919) 513-8368 or email rave-events@ncsu.edu.

We encourage you to consider hosting small meetings remotely via Zoom, however, if you have an immediate need (within a week) to meet in person, call our office so we can assist you with your request.

Ensure that the highest level of care is taken to minimize the risk of infection. Every day we practice the highest standards for safety and sanitation, including the use of EPA-approved disinfectants plus green cleaning. We are enhancing these practices to include:

  • Increasing the frequency of cleaning high-touch areas to protect our customers and staff and reducing operating hours to accommodate these efforts.
  • Amplifying our efforts to provide clean, stocked restrooms and maintaining a friendly team to perform those services.
  • Providing additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the student centers to supplement your handwashing.

Encourage social distancing. A place to build community is an important part of what we provide, but we also want to provide a safe place to study. We ask for your support in creating and maintaining a safe environment that respects all guests and their respective vulnerability to the COVID-19 virus by not moving furniture around to create larger groupings, washing your hands, disposing of waste in designated receptacles, and maintaining distance between others.

We are working closely with university leadership and campus partners to make additional plans and encourage you to visit ncsu.edu/coronavirus regularly for updates.
