Campus Enterprises services consolidate to serve campus for the remaining fall 2020 semester

NC State’s retail and hospitality division is consolidating services to Talley Student Union, Witherspoon Student Center, On the Oval Food Hall, Port City Java-Terry Center, and the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

“For students who reside on or near campus as well as for faculty and staff, Talley Student Union will remain the center of campus activity more than ever. As the campus population continues to adjust, we will continue to engage our staff, campus partners, and customers in bringing the best level of services that our community can support,” said Rich Berlin, associate vice chancellor. “We’ve identified some innovative ways to do that.”

Dining

The core of any dining program is the all-you-care-to-eat dining hall. “To ensure we can continue to provide this valuable component of our dining operation while consolidating our space, we will convert One Earth in Talley Student Union to fulfill this need for the remainder of the semester,” added Berlin.

Beginning Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, One Earth will open Monday-Friday for breakfast (8 a.m. – 10 a.m.), lunch (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.) and dinner (4:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.) and Saturday and Sunday for lunch (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.) and dinner (4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.).

A typical breakfast menu will include eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, breakfast meats, oatmeal, pastries, fruit and yogurt cups. Lunch will feature stir-fry, pre-made wraps, a rotating made-to-order Mediterranian menu, homestyle entrees and sides, pasta, marinara sauce, side salads and fruit options. Dinner will feature stir-fry, homestyle entrees and sides, pasta dishes, side salads and fruit options.

Other locations within Talley that will continue to operate, albeit on a modified schedule, include Tuffy’s Diner, Los Lobos, Jason’s Deli, Talley Market, Port City Java, Starbucks and 1887 Bistro. For the most current hours of operation, visit dining.ncsu.edu/locations.

Menus from all of the Oval Food Hall concepts on Centennial Campus will be picked up at Gravity Cafe. Customers will order through Grubhub.

Student Centers

Talley Student Union will continue to be a hub for students to eat, study and socialize under the most current physical distancing guidelines. The Student Centers information desk, Wolfpack Outfitters, PNC Bank, Rave! Events and the Wolfpack One Card office will remain open, as will Witherspoon Student Center, which supports Student Media, our Military and Veteran Students and Passport Services. Visit studentcenters.ncsu.edu for hours of operation.

The Rave! Events team will attempt to accommodate department requests for in-person meetings and events that comply with current university practice and follow the Governor’s executive order.

“Our student centers and other retail operations such as Wolfpack Outfitters, the One Card office, PNC Bank, for example, are critical to our students and staff, as are the services provided by our campus partners,” added Berlin. “We will continue to support these operations to ensure they are available to serve their constituencies.”

Wolfpack Outfitters + Wolf Xpress

The physical store in Talley Student Union remains open to support the campus population, but the move to online course materials and sales has ensured students and customers have access to the goods and services they need most without having to come to campus.

During the fall 2017 semester, Wolfpack Outfitters launched the All-In Digital access program that delivers digital course materials at significant savings. Early adopters proved the program to be successful, so the program expanded significantly in the following year.  More than 18,000 NC State student seats are enrolled in the All-In program during the fall 2020 semester.

“All-In provides immediate online availability to vital course materials, which can be accessed on any device,” said Jeff Halliburton, senior director for auxiliary services. “Plus, it’s significantly more cost-effective than traditional print textbooks.

The custom t-shirt and product operation known as State of the Art recently moved from the Talley lobby into Wolfpack Outfitters. It will debut as the Design Den in late September.

Wolf Xpress Print & Copy handled a tsunami of sign requests over the summer to help the university re-open. With the campus population de-densifying, Wolf Xpress continues to help the campus with print projects, student resume formatting, and other print projects.

Lonnie Poole Golf Course

NC State’s golf course on Centennial Campus continues to be active as one of the few leisure venues available that allow for social distancing. Tee times can be made through the golf course website – lonniepoolegolfcourse.com – and the snack bar is open for takeout through Grubhub.
