NC State Student Centers reorganizes team structure to better serve campus

NC State’s Student Centers has reorganized to meet the increasing demand for space and services. To that end, the department has seven staff members in   new  roles.

“The creation of these roles also marks a new and exciting opportunity for the students centers events and facilities teams to support and serve the campus community.” said Tim Hogan, NC State Student Centers director. 

Four of the staff report to Erica Epps, associate director for event services. These include the following. 

Casey Kenner was promoted from reservations manager to assistant director of reservations and event planning. In her new role, Kenner’s responsibilities will include strategic planning for reservation timelines and the annual events process, major event review, PRR compliance, and campus partnerships. She will also supervise reservations office coordinator and manage communication with event clients and the NC State Student Centers website. Along with van den Berg, Kenner will also manage software administration and the implementation of processes and protocols for the Student Centers Events team. Kenner will also take charge of a large portion of the administrative duties for the team, including reviewing invoices, facility use agreements and certificates of insurance.

Allison van den Berg was promoted from night and weekend operations coordinator to assistant director of operations and student development. In her new role, van den Berg will supervise the weekend operations coordinator and student events staff. She will also lead strategic planning of the student employment program and communication with student employees, event operations across various locations, and internal partnerships with building services teams. Along with these responsibilities, van den Berg will also lead software administration among the Student Centers Events team, including the management and implementation of processes and protocols for the team.

Juan Isler was promoted from event coordinator to A/V production manager. In his new role, Isler will supervise the A/V production coordinators and associated student staff, managing A/V support for high-profile events and audiovisual projects. He will also work with the production services team to identify areas for growth and implement training programs.

Isler’s previous role as event coordinator will now be filled by Britney Davis.

Britney Davis was promoted from reservations office coordinator to event coordinator. In her new role, Davis will coordinate events in University Outdoor Spaces and Witherspoon Student Center.

As an event coordinator, Davis will develop campus partnerships to streamline the event planning process for outdoor events on campus.

Three of the staff report to Dr. TJ Willis, associate director for building services. These include the following. 

Erin Ives will now serve as an assistant director leading the building services team. Building services is comprised of loading dock operations, sustainability and our facilities enhancement team responsible for cleaning and maintaining the student centers.

She leads a team of five  and also works closely with our sustainability initiatives, including student led and class projects.

Paige Johnson has moved from the events team to the building services team as a production coordinator. After years on the events side, her new role will allow Johnson to leverage her expertise in AV along with client and event support to focus on infrastructure planning and replacement, advanced troubleshooting, vendor coordination and training of new AV technology in the student centers. With new technology and meeting room updates consistently being implemented including Talley 4140, Witherspoon 201 and Witherspoon 126, Johnson will help to mitigate issues and provide better continuity of services across our spaces as we upgrade and enhance our services. 

Breche Nupsia Makooso Mazzi is now serving as the building services office coordinator. Previously serving as a facilities enhancement lead, Mazzi will now serve in an administrative role supporting the building services team and also providing team training. Specifically, Mazzi will lead housekeeping’s ordering, tracking and budgeting, lead in submission of work orders for the department, manage directories and groups, and assist with project planning for facilities improvements and ongoing operations.
