NC State Dining adds University Towers Dining Hall and other new options for the 2023-2024 academic year

Students will have more flexibility in how they use their meal plan this year due to a few big changes to the program, effective August 16, 2023.

The University Towers Dining Hall will begin accepting the NC State Dining meal plan. The dining hall will be available to any student on an NC State Dining meal plan*. This change comes as a part of NC State’s lease agreement for University Towers. More information can be found on the NC State Dining website.

University Towers Dining Hall

“Incorporating the University Towers Dining Hall into our meal plan provides more options and convenience for students in UT as well as those who study nearby, especially in the College of Management,” said Shawn Hoch, NC State’s senior director of hospitality services. “Having a dining hall on this side of campus will also appeal to students living in nearby apartments or houses who want to take advantage of a meal plan.”

One Earth in Talley Student Union will be converted to a takeout lunch option using compostable containers. The meal counts as a daily Pack&Go meal or block meal for Flex Plan or Block Plan meal holders, respectively. One Earth will also accept Dining Dollars, All Campus, Faculty/Staff payroll deduction, and major credit cards. According to Hoch, this decision was made to provide more value and options for students who cannot get back to a dining hall during the lunch period.

Port City Java and the Shuttle Inn at Textiles will reopen as Social Fabric Cafe + Market. Social Fabric will be proudly serving Starbucks(r) beverages as well as a variety of grab-n-go sandwiches, salads, toasted sandwiches and pastries. Social Fabric will accept Dining Dollars, All Campus, Faculty/Staff payroll deduction, and major credit cards.

“Social Fabric is an exciting collaboration with the College of Textiles, which has food service in one space and seating in the other,” explained Hoch. “This gives the college the option of leaving the seating space open beyond restaurant hours for students to be able to study together or work on class projects. We look forward to unveiling this new space in August.”

*Students on a meal plan not living in University Towers will be able to access the UT Dining Hall from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
