Rave! Catering, NC State’s official on-campus caterer, has added a new ordering portal to improve client convenience and provide robust tracking for internal auditing purposes.
The previous system could only be accessed from campus computers or by using a VPN to place and manage orders. Now, clients have full visibility and can access the site through their device from any location. They can also view event details in real time and request changes directly through the system.

“If a client makes a change, any costs associated with that change are immediately seen in the system,” said Tiffany Boman, director of Rave! Catering. “We appreciate the accuracy and transparency it provides for both us and our clients.”
Rave! Catering provides services across the NC State campus, including the main, biomedical and Centennial campuses, including the Lonnie Poole Golf Course and Chancellor’s residence. It offers a range of services from morning breakfasts with coffee to plated dinners and buffets. While Rave! primarily serves university-affiliated clients, the team also caters to external clients at locations like the McKimmon Center and the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Chris Dunham, director of IT for Campus Enterprises, was tasked with selecting a new vendor. “There wasn’t enough transparency in the old catering software we were using,” he said. “There was also no real front end for customers to go through, so everything was heavily dependent on the catering coordinators.”
The launch of Rave! Catering’s new ordering portal has significantly improved efficiency for both clients and catering staff. Clients can now enjoy a more user-friendly, accessible and transparent catering experience. The new portal can be found on rave.ncsu.edu.
