Reservations Assistant

Job Title: Reservations Assistant In Training, Tier 1; Reservations Assistant, Tier 2

  • Effective July 29th, 2019 applicants with no previous experience with NC State Student Centers will be considered for Reservations Assistant In Training Position. See “Opportunities for Skill Development” for more details. 

Location: NC State Student Centers Events Services Suite, Talley Student Union

Supervision: Reports to Izzy Davis, Reservations Coordinator

Work Schedule: Shift work; 10-20 hours per week between 8am and 9pm, Monday-Friday with some flexibility

Compensation: Minimum starting wage for Reservations Assistant In Training is $10.00/hr and starting wage for Reservations Assistant is $10.75/hr with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises

Campus Enterprises Expectations: As student employees with Campus Enterprises we expect you to be professional and be present for your shifts. This includes but not limited to:

  • Arriving early for shifts
  • Having on a complete uniform
  • Clocking in and clocking out in a timely fashion
  • Cell phones are only used at appropriate times
  • Prioritize the client
  • Finish all duties before taking a break

Purpose: NC State Students Centers works to create a memorable experience for all students, guests and alumni here at NC State. Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively welcome and assist event clients of the student centers, offering information about events, the reservations process, catering, and other information as needed
  • Develop detailed knowledge of each Student Centers Event Coordinator’s responsibilities to ensure phone and reservation inquiries are relayed to the appropriate representative
  • Support Event Coordinators by gathering event information from clients and reserving event space using EMS online reservation system
  • Confirm online reservations and provide confirmations to clients via email
  • Support Student Centers Events Coordinators by developing room setup diagrams events
  • Answer inquiries via the phone and email in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and a clean work environment at all times
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings
  • Work on special projects assigned by Campus Enterprises administration
  • Remain in compliance with NC State Student Centers student employee policies and expectations at all times

Essential Qualifications

  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work with a team to serve a diverse population
  • Previous experience as an Event Technician preferred
  • Elevated oral and written communication skills
  • Must attend mandatory student employee orientation and training sessions

Working as a member of the NC State Student Centers students gain valuable experience and develop skills that can be transferred to their individual career paths. NC State Student Centers has developed student employee objectives and corresponding learning outcomes that outline the development opportunities student employees can expect. *Applicants with no previous experience with NC State Student Centers will be hired as an Reservations Assistant in Training (Tier 1). Upon completion of onboarding, training, 100 hours of employment with NC State Student Centers and a skills assessments, students will have the opportunity for a promotion to Reservations Assistant (Tier 2).
