Rave! Catering Event Student Manager

Job Title: Catering Event Student Manager, Tier 4

Location: Varies depending on event location (any building on campus)

Work Schedule: Event-based shift work; 8-20 hours per week. Includes nights and weekends and annual mandatory events (i.e. Required to work all home football games)

Compensation: Starting wage $12.75/hr (Tier 4) with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises. Dining and Catering employees earn free meals and are eligible for an end-of-semester bonus

Campus Enterprises Expectations:

As student employees with Campus Enterprises we expect you to be professional and be present for your shifts. This includes but not limited to:

  • Arriving early for shifts
  • Having on a complete uniform
  • Clocking in and clocking out in a timely fashion
  • Cell phones are only used at appropriate times
  • Prioritize the client
  • Finish all duties before taking a break

Purpose: NC State Students Centers and Rave! Events work together to create a memorable experience for all students, guests and alumni here at NC State. We strive to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the NC State community. Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise the setup, execution and clean up for events around campus including preparing silverware, napkins, and other general stockroom duties
  • Provide food and beverage service for buffets, break services, receptions and plated meals
  • Supervise staff and delegate tasks when necessary 
  • Assist Event Coordinators in monitoring larger catered events
  • Responsible for being self-sufficient and knowledgeable on service techniques and the food options
  • Communicate effectively with clients to address any needs or concerns
  • Provide a superior level of customer service
  • Maintain and replenish food and beverage needs throughout event
  • Take initiative to work independently and coordinate with catering team as needed
  • Use problem solving skills to provide accommodations for clients in a fast-paced setting
  • Perform minor housekeeping duties
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Remain in compliance with RAVE! Events and NC State Student Centers student employee policies and expectations at all times
  • Perform other duties or side work as assigned by catering coordinators

Essential Qualifications

  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Previous Waitstaff and Lead Waitstaff experience 
  • Ability to handle meat, dairy and various foods either with or without gloves
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, and roll up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work with a team to serve a diverse population
  • Elevated oral and written communication skills
  • Must attend mandatory staff meetings, student employee orientation and training sessions
