Yates Mill Bakery was established in 2013 as a part of the Talley Student Union renovation with the sole purpose of satisfying the sweet tooths at NC State with treats made from fresh ingredients right here on campus.
The bakery is named for Yates Mill, one of the oldest structures in Wake County, and the region’s only surviving and operable gristmill. Located just seven miles away from NC State on Lake Wheeler Road, it’s the centerpiece of a 574-acre wildlife refuge and park operated by Wake County in partnership with YMA and NC State.

Chef Kelly Bellmore is an award-winning confectioner who takes pride in creating a variety of house-made treats for Yates Mill Bakery, from cupcakes and fudge to macarons and caramel corn. Chef Kelly and her team are thrilled to create the perfect treat for special occasions such as birthdays, graduations, retirements, weddings and other Wolfpack milestones.
