NC State University’s Campus Enterprises Division has been named Large Employer of the Year by the City of Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities. Campus Enterprises Employee Barry Tracey was named Supervisor of the Year.
This prestigious award is given to those who support the committee’s commitment to embrace the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and in fulfillment of its mission to be a strong supporter of the choices made by people with disabilities to participate in the employment, economic, social and political life of Raleigh.
According to Tara Waters, event chair, NC State was nominated for the great opportunities it affords employees with disabilities. “A committee member had a chance to see firsthand the support and encouragement [Campus Enterprises] provides employees with disabilities and was motivated to submit a nomination,” said Waters.
Tracey, according to Waters, was nominated by employees of Community Partnerships, Inc., because of his commitment to his employees with disabilities. Tracey has been a supervisor at the Atrium Food Court for more than 7 years and has been a champion for employees with disabilities. He has invested numerous hours to accommodate employees with special needs through training, coaching and encouragement.
The department, as well as Tracey, was recognized at the Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities annual banquet on Tuesday, October 30. Roslynn Bartley accepted the award for the department, and Charmaine Roundtree and Janine Nickolsen accepted the Supervisor of the Year award on behalf of Tracey.
