I hope your school year is off to a great start. All across Campus Enterprises, we are busy welcoming many new employees and customers to our venues. It’s a hectic time of year!
Before too long, though, things will settle back into a routine, and then we can start thinking about professional development. Our professional development theme for 2019-2020 is RESPECT. We will be building on this theme in many ways. Throughout the year, we will have tips on respect in our email newsletters and we will provide managers with conversation starters for use in their team meetings.
This fall semester, we will focus on creating respectful working environments where all employees feel welcome and included. We will encourage all employees to participate in Discrimination and Harassment Prevention and Response training, offered through the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity. Workshops will be offered in-person over Fall Break. There will also be online or make-up sessions for employees not available at that time.
In the spring, we will have workshops on respecting our coworkers and customers by creating a safe workplace. We also hope to offer a session on building our emotional intelligence. More details to come!
To get started, check out this great TED Talk by Christine Porath about the benefits of creating a more civil and respectful workplace. You may have an opportunity to discuss this further with your team soon!
