Tiffany Boman has been named director of Rave! Catering, the catering department for NC State University. She is a 13-year veteran of the university with a background in food management, purchasing/procurement, and catering. In her time with NC State, she has established herself as a major asset to the dining and catering operations, and this new position reflects her integral role.
Boman was promoted to the position after the former director, Scott Button, retired in January 2023. After 20 years of working in both the dining and hospitality industries, Boman’s long-standing excellence in service and dedication to customers positioned her as the ideal candidate.
“Tiffany’s contributions to NC State Dining over the past 13 years have proven that she is the right person to lead Rave! Catering,” said Shawn Hoch, senior director for hospitality services. “Not only does she have a deep working knowledge of our food service operations, but she has significant catering and customer relations experience, both here and in her previous role at Eagle Ridge. I look forward to seeing her continued positive impact on our catering program.”
During Boman’s time as a catering coordinator, she built a training program for the waitstaff to ensure they were well prepared for the job and also provide leadership, communication, and time management skills to serve them not only in their current role but also in their future careers. She is energized by the opportunity to transition back into catering, but this time in a leadership role, herself.
“In addition to working with student waitstaff again, I am also looking forward to working with our catering chef and campus executive chefs to bring fresh, exciting options to our offerings,” she said. “I want to be able to offer more menu variety to student groups that they can afford, but at the same time look at updating the existing options for our campus partners.”
