Grand Opening Celebrations Planned for NC State Bookstore and Atrium Food Court

Celebrations will be held on the Brickyard August 12 – 15

August 8, 2011 (Raleigh, NC) — Grand opening celebrations for the NC State Bookstore and Atrium food court will be held August 12 – 14 in the Brickyard at NC State University.  The joint celebration has been named the Brickyard Block Party and will also showcase Wolf Xpress, a print and copy service center, located in the Atrium.

NC State Bookstores will be welcoming parents and families into their temporary location on the ground floor of Harrelson Hall.  Harrelson will be the bookstore’s home until the Talley Student Center Renovation and Addition are complete in 2014.

The Atrium food court began renovations in the summer of 2010 and debuted new dining options in January 2011.  This summer, the Atrium closed to complete renovations in the kitchen and seating area.  The completely renovated Atrium will open for the first time on August 12.

The Brickyard Block Party will feature activities for parents and families August 12 – 14 and activities especially for students during the Campus Crawl from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on August 15.

Friday, August 12

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Block Party activities:

11:00  – Atrium opens with ribbon cutting; special gift for first 100 customers

11:30  – Bookstore ribbon cutting; special gift for first 100 customers

11:00 – 2:00 – DJ David Howell on the Brickyard

11:00 – 2:00 – Chalk-the-Walk – welcome back students with your own message or drawing on the Brickyard

11:00 – 2:00 – Corn hole on the Brickyard

Saturday, August 13

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Block Party activities:

11:00 –Until – Free NC State face tattoos, while supplies last

11:00 – 1:00 – Professional Photo opportunity at NC State Bookstores

11:00 – 2:00 – DJ David Howell on the Brickyard

11:00 – 2:00 – Corn hole on the Brickyard

Sunday, August 14

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Block Party activities:

12:00  – 1:00 – Spin the prize wheel for a chance to win great prizes

Monday, August 15

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Campus Crawl

The Brickyard Block Party finale is during the Campus Crawl!  Grab a friend and take a snapshot in the photo booth, celebrate the Atrium renovation with giveaways, participate in a bubble blowing contest, play a game of corn  hole, and pick-up a free snack, while supplies last.
